E51: Andrew Shirley

Andrew’s passion for the food and farming industry began during school holidays on his uncle’s farm. He studied Crop Technology and Resource Management at the Royal Agricultural College and the University of Bath. His career spans diverse farming systems in Africa and Asia, and he even ran his own fishing business on Lake Victoria.

Andrew also has a deep love for writing. He was the Business and Property Editor at Farmers Weekly and led the Rural Research team at Knight Frank, where he developed significant thought leadership pieces like The Wealth Report, The Rural Report, and the Luxury Investment Index. His work included interviews with leading conservationists, supporting his belief in the harmony between food production and nature restoration.

He recently founded an editorial consultancy to help businesses create compelling narratives for their clients.
